    No tech!!!

In 2012 on our first Camino we took our daughter’s iPod touch because our adult children said we were being irresponsible. We got a blog and at night we would write our day’s memories and if we had internet then we would post it. So they would know we were “ok”. We didn’t alway have an...

People with Altra Lone Peak shoes

I scrolled through and didn't see anyone respond..Are you using all the shoelace holes? I have noticed people don't use the last hole and for me it's a must as I don't want my feet to slip around in the shoe which will cause blisters and on down hills the constant blunt force can cause toe nail...

    Injinji socks

I broke my small toe years ago and it likes to rest under then next toe. I have worn injinji socks for years. Training for marathons and walking Caminos. There are different thicknesses and materials. I use various ones for different activities. Maybe they will work for you too

    "Toe Socks"

They have an array of types. I use several for different activities and weather conditions. I never double sock as it creates friction so I just use the sock thickness, length, material etc that is good for whatever my activity.

Women's Gregory Jade 28 pack -what do you think?

I carried this pack on my first camino and loved it. It has changed a bit and I wasn't as fond of the changes and have since changed. If they have made the waist strap wide again then that would be great. It went from over two inches to one inch, but that is a personal preference Also it...

    Altra = Happy Feet?

I've been running in them for years; when they only had two models. I was a happy "soul" when they started making trail shoes!

Who Bought Lone Peak 4.0? (Currently discussing 4.5!)

I have tried on the 4.5's and they are much, much better than the 4's. I loved the 3's infact I have been an Altra fan for years (road and trail), but in the last couple they have disappointed me. I have purchased and really like some Topo Athletics shoes. I wore the ultra ventures last year...

    Did Pilgrims use iPhones?

We have journeyed from eastern Switzerland to SdC with an iPhone. But we use it to take photos, journal, and post our entries when we get wifi. We have never gotten a data plan. If our adult children don't see a post for a few days, we will have an email from one of them the next time we get...

    Ladies Osprey Packs

I am 5' 7" and carry the trampoline back Stratos 34 liter, but it is actually 32 liter as I have the smaller size. I was using the Gregory Jade 28 in the larger size which was about 30 liters, but they changed the pockets and I didn't like the new set up. It also had a trampoline back.

Who Bought Lone Peak 4.0? (Currently discussing 4.5!)

Hello! Very disappointed in the new model and the fit was horrible. I have been such a fan of Altra, but the changes in the hiking shoe and running shoe models I have been wearing have made for a bad fit for me. For the walk in May on the Way of Saint Francis we both wore Topo Athletic...

    Gregory Jade 28 Backpack - Women's 2019 Version

I wore the Jade 28 for many kilometer (over 2000). I loved it, but they changed some things on it and made the belt narrower and I went with another pack. It still is a very good pack, but I didn't like the changes. I too was fitted at REI back in 2012.

    Water reservoir/bladder?

We vote for water bladders. We have used one for over 4000 kilometers of walking. We went to southern Utah last fall and decided we would use bottle and hated it. The weight distribution is horrible. The amount of water we carry depends on the weather and distance. We have been short a...

    Trail Runners on the asphalt.

Trail runners with "rock plates" will be more rigid. Inov8's could be a choice.

    Time to buy new Altras

My husband and I wear lots of Altra's. for years Running, knock around and the trial Lone Peaks until the 4.0 I didn't care for the new last on the 3.5 and the 4's are a mess in my opinion. I have gotten pair of TOPO trail shoes. I think the model "ultra ventures". I have done a couple of...

    Women's Underwear

The first few years I wore Ex-officio but have changed to merino wool panties. They don't retain odor and don't have to be replaced as often. I still wear the ex-0fficio bralettes. They are very good for those that are on the small side---can't speak for those larger than an A cup.

    Permethrin

This seems to come up every year..and there are those that like and others who don't. It is not required and wI don't know what they use in the albergues but they do use something. Every year and some times twice a year we stray permethrin on our sleep sacks and outer side of our bags. We have...
