A bit of a summary of suggestions:
The 10% thing is simply something someone came up with as an opinion long ago and it is now quoted as a RULE. ;) . It is a good place to start. But simple logic will tell you that a small woman will have an impossible time using it. The only important thing...
I also use the Patagonia down puffer jacket after using several different one over the years. The lightweight plus comfort received is a great balance.
I have also found that it is fine to sleep in on colder nights…thus I no longer take a sleeping bag..just a silk sleep liner. A great weight...
This is a refreshing thread.
Concern about how to minimize the weight of the pack you will be carrying is a great change from the overwhelming number of posts worrying about “luggage” transfer.
I walked from LePuy and experienced about 30 days of rain from LePuy to SJPP....then both sunshine and freezing rain over the pass to Roncevalles. Another time on the Frances we did not get a day of rain from SJPP to Santiago. Yet another time (Jan & Feb) we had wind and rain for many days in...

Does anyone have one (or 2) laying around that they do not need?

You may want to google installing a SIM card in...
Annie talked me out of my large size old style Altus last year. This thread was originally started by Annie in October of 2019 and she has just reopened it today 10/28/202l.
My wife, Ellie, has been using a Gregory Jade 28l pack since 2009. I think it is probably time to retire it..but she will not hear of it. Her comfort level with the pack is solid.
I have gone through 4 packs in that same period.
One thing to keep in mind for those who are watching this excellent thread and thinking about adding a power bank to your kit. Some of the units are pretty heavy..usually the more powerful is heavier.
It may be good to do a bit of research and only get the lightest unit that suits your needs as...
My wife, Ellie, has used Pacer Poles for years. We originally bought a used pair from Annie Santiago (on the forum) many years ago. She walked with them for one Camino then resold them and ordered a lighter carbon set.
She has now walked many caminos with Pacer Poles and would not want to...
The great thing about the discussion is that @Kanga’s post was last made on April 8 2017.....@ken2116 replied on April 9, 2020 (3 years later 😁) and the discussion just continues 👍
