"After following a disused railway line you turn left over a road bridge, and then sharp right down a bit of a scramble. The plaque is fixed to a tree with a Camino yellow arrow."
I believe I recall this section. May you walk many more routes and remember your friend with fondness.
Buen Camino.
Hóla, This is good information. The reverse also applies, you can get bus back down the hill. As you enter town look at bus stop time tables. They are listed at each stop. Locals also seem to be aware of peregrinos.
Perhaps the hill up to the hostel is not too bad? It's only when you have...
Hóla, Can you recall name of hospitalero you met? I know local Arturo is the main man but Pasqual from Barcelona was due to relieve him for month of May.
Buen Camino, Brian.
Laurie, I think Pasqual worked in graphic arts but can't be certain. I first met this quiet, gentle man as hospitalero in Puente Duero. Later in the week I met him again as hospitalero in Viallon de Campos. Yes, he also invited me for evening menu del dia in hotel across the road. We had great...
Laurie is spot on. Most recent experiences are always welcome on the forum. Also consider forwarding them to interested parties, some are better than others at editing
I've heard that Arturo will be away in May and his number one replacement will be Pasqual from Barcelona. If you are on the way , please greet your friendly hospitalero.
Buen Camino
Hóla Roger and thanks for you post, but hopefully when one rambles up to albergue in Añe " Acogida municipal en las antiguas escuelas" the door will be open or notice where to obtain key. Are there any updates about bar in town? Does it still open? I'm unlikely to be rambling that way in near...
Thanks for your post to Camino de Madrid.
So what about Ane, did you peep into the albergue, could you locate the village bar etc/
Oh, before asking questions I should read your blog
Buen Camino
Buenas Tardes, I think the guide book says 12 days Madrid to Sahagun where you meet C.F. leadinging to Santiago which might be 2 weeks further rambling. So what is your plan?
Some posts were lost recently during forum update. One indicated there was no bar in Ane and perhaps this is accurate. I wonder was the bar closed and un-indentifable as I dined and got key of albergue there on Good Friday 2011.
Laurie you have jogged my memory. Yes I think torrent1964 should go for gold and cycle the Camino de Madrid. I'm sure he has no problem getting off bike and pushing it over the hill at Fonfria... if gear "whatever number" fails. torrent1964 do not be too cautious. You do this stuff at home...
I walked late April last year and on day one I recall numerous local cyclists on suitable machines.
Four long distance cyclists were over-nighting in Coca.
In Castromonte I met a solo Spanish pilgrim cycling to Santiago.
Whatever route you choose,
Buen Camino.
