Hello everyone, In the last few months there has been, happily, a steady stream of Pilgrims asking for a version of the simple guide I wrote for the Lana, completed in September last year. I've been sending it individually, but it is possible if you scroll down on a comment written on July the...
Incredible Alan. First the Lana, then the Olvidado and now on the road from Villajoyosa. Plus all the insights into Spanish history. Thanks. Fascinating reading.
Thanks for those kind words Joe. Unfortunately I can't help with the Requena although I know where it goes, and it looks interesting. You could also opt for the Levante as far as Almansa and Alpera. The Lana /Levante split is just outside Alpera and clearly marked. Best. Kevin
Answering a query. The exact distance is uncertain due to walking around towns etc. But the total distance from Alicante to Burgos would be approximately 710 km. Not much more anyway. Stages? Again roughly 26 or 27 days but this would depend on the individual walking. Rest days not included...
Hei Heidi, you may be Norwegian but I better write this in English. The guide written after completing the Lana in October is now finished. I can't load it up for some reason, but I can send it to you directly from my email kfobrien@online.no. so that you have it for eventual planning before...
At last it's finished. I hope this guide, written after completing this incredible Camino in October 2018, will help others who are thinking about walking the Lana. It was a wonderful experience and the infrastructure is there! Strongly recommended. It seems that I can't upload this file for...
Hello Alan. Echoing Laurie's remark. You really can write! It bought back so many wonderful memories. Your quote from Lorca was deeply moving as I connect so much of his life, work and end with the terrible tragedy of the Civil War and it's aftermath. I'm busy now writing some sort of English...
Hi Alan, you are quite right about the lady in the bar at Caracena. We had a lovely short rest day after the blazing heat in the cañon. Maria's son has completely renovated one of the small houses just down from the bar. We took the offer and she amazed us by refusing any payment. We had...
Well done Alan!! We completed the Lana in Burgos on the 4th of October. Your accommodation list was very helpful and quite accurate!! One change was the Rincon Sandra in Monteagudo, not the Abuela. Remember, no tienda in Retortillo or Quintanarraya!! Cheers and Buen Camino!!
Hi Laurie. We're on the Lana now at Campillo De Altobuey. I'm using Alan's list for accommodation. Great Camino so far. Hope to see Luis in Cuenca in a few days time. Could you please relay this to Alan, and thank him from me. I'm walking with Hans, a friend from Holland, and we are really...
Hello Alan and thanks for an entertaining and detailed account of Your Journey on the Lana. I'm hope to start on the 3rd or 4th of September and will try for Burgos. I thought I might try and Write an Alison Raju style guide for the Lana. I seem to remember you have walked the last stages of...
