Thanks for this news ; perhaps this will be a further development that will see the Invierno begin to attract the number of walkers that this Camino 'deserves'
No personal offence taken at all, as I know that there are several good posts on this site for the Invierno, as there are for most routes. Will always hold tremendously positive memories of walking the Camino Invierno and hope that some of the enthusiasm of others and myself is felt by those...
A beautiful Camino that is worth the effort of diverting at Ponferrada and having an experience away from the Camino Francais... can I please edge in and suggest that this post might also be worth a read ...
Bon Camino... it is a beautiful, magnificent and very well marked Camino and I am confident that while you will not encounter many, or possibly any other pilgrims walking on the Invierno until the last couple of days, you will be having a great experience.
Not aware of your walking pace, so not sure if this personal account will help you at all, though as we had a good couple of hours walking within Las Médulas before continuing on the Invierno, perhaps this might be of interest :
Day 2: Las Médulas to Puente de Domingo Flórez
Thursday 23rd June...
Agree - though I take with me a small cut-off from a large bar of Marseille soap (in Spain look for Jabón de Marsella) and occasionally use a scouring pad, which is great for quickly removing stubborn stains in cold or warm water. Hang on en elasticated extending line to dry....and at least it...
Enjoy the walk along an amazing route that will be, in all likelihood, being walked by only yourself, apart from the first few hundred steps at Ponferreda and the last day or two when you come closer to Santiago. Nonetheless, it will be, I am confident, an enriching experience.
Buen camino !
Total mystery to me as to why the 'official' numbers for the Invierno are so low for such a beautiful and interesting Camino, though the low number of peligrinos could be one of the very reasons for why it is so enjoyable for the few who do walk it. Personally, I like to meet a few others and...
I am also recognising that bed as one which I spent a night.
A claim of 5000 walking the Camino de Invierno - I have my doubts that the annual total from 2016 is even 10% of that number. Just tried to look at the statistics from the Pilgrim Office, but was challenged in loading the page. Maybe...
Hi gollygolly, i'm just starting to review your comments for revisions for next year's edition. I see that you are critical of the accommodation in Casa Socorro in As Médulas. I'd be interested in hearing more about what went wrong, because I stayed there last year and everything was fine. I...
Not sure if there is anything specific that I have which will add to the existing knowledge. My general observation remains an echo of your own sentiments - this is a wonderful Camino, though few are walking it. Some may regard that as a blessing, others may hold the contradictory view. It is...

My apologies !! This 'report' was somehow there one minute, and then gone the next, so am now going to paste this into three separate parts
The personal challenges of putting together this report a little over 16 weeks after commencing the Camino ! Memory is deceptive, and my hand written...
Here is the continuation of this Camino
