    Google Mapping Car

On October 2, 2015 while I was walking between Nájera and Azofra, a Google Mapping Car passed me. I was carrying a SPOT device so I marked the spot to check later. Well, today I found me! It's really cool because you can "walk" up the road in Google and see just what I saw that day. They...

    Bed bugs in March

A few days ago I stayed in the Albergue in Azofra: nice place, good ambiance, helpful hospitaleiros, etc. I enjoyed especially the 2-person-per-room arrangement. Unfortunately, I was bitten during the night. I didn't report it immediately because at first I didn't relate it to bed bugs, which I...

My friend has just posted on her blog that three pilgrims have been robbed in Azofra's Albergue today. Korean girls lost over 1000 euros each, all three were in showers when it happened!!! Oh dear! When will they learn but so sad this is happening.

    We are in Azofra

Today we walked from Naverette to Azofra, about 23 ks. Yesterday in Naverette we stayed in a very nice private hostel called El Cantor. When we got there there were three pilgrims already there. Two were in a private room and the other in the common area. When we saw who he was we almost...

    Now in Azofra....

Weather - lovely (after deluge going from SJPDP to Roncesvalles). People - great company, whether pilgrims or locals. Feet - 2 blisters but healing after a day´s rest in Viana where I did nothing more energetic than write postcards. Other than a cold (which I am afraid is making me snore - sorry...

    Najera/Azofra to Biarritz

Hi I have some friends who, having completed their first section of the Frances at the end of May, will need to get back to Biarritz to catch their flight home. They expect to have reached somewhere around the Najera / Azofra area. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what their options are...

    I´ve made it to Azofra

And I even have a bed! The camino is quite crowded. I stayed at the church in Logrono because the main albergue was full. Ventosa was full at 1, but let folks sleep on the floor but even after that, she still had to turn folks away. Best rule of thumb is to stay wherever you are at noon to 1...

    Roland in Azofra

With Ivar's poll about albergues I remembered that I always wanted to find out what happened to Roland and his albergue in Azofra. In 2002, we walked together for a few days until Belorado, he then had to go back to organize the builders. When some friends came through Azofra last May they...
