A wonderful story from The Guardian

In Shirley MacLaine's book, she says that when she arrived at the Cathedral, her credencial was stamped and a priest bathed her feet. This was in July 2000. Does anyone of that era or before have any experience with feet being washed upon a pilgrim's arrival?
The cathedral at le Puy has released a video where they explain (in French) they are sorely in need of funds, having missed the usual 40,000 euros from pilgrims during lockdown. If you would like to donate please do; or just watch the video and think of le chemin...

We will be doing the Camino starting from Sarria the last week of May. Is it likely that they will swing the botafumiero during the daily Pilgrims' Mass at that time?
At a press event in Santiago yesterday the Archbishop revealed the cathedral's new dedicated website for the 2021 Holy Year. Amongst other things it includes a long pastoral letter from the Archbishop. He also published the official logo and poster for the Holy Year...

What happens to the cupulín of the cathedral of Santiago?

To anyone who is currently in SdC. Can you tell me if the Shadow Pilgrim is once again appearing nightly, in his usual place behind the Cathedral? Last year, he was obscured by scaffolding. Here is the reference to anyone who has not made his awesome specterly acquaintance...
A few commemts, prompted by an 'is it worth it' question, and just because there may be interest...
On a rainy day, early in the morning, there is a special feeling here. It's 'normal,' rather than a zoo. But pilgrims still walk into the plaza, to dance, weep, or just have a quiet moment ib the...
Since parts of the Cathedral are reported closed for renovation until the next Holy Year 2021 let us talk about some of the more curiouser and curiouser histories of the cathedral.
Things were looking not bad until along came Al-Mansur ibn Abi Aamir in 997. He captured the city, destroyed the...
I have come across a bizzare claim, that the Cathedral of Santiago harbours an ancient holy stone, called "Nabi" or "Navi", and that this stone is said to have originated from the Mount of Beattitudes, Near the lake of Galilee, Israel. Has anybody heard or read anything about such a stone?
I am currently in the SdC Cathedral and trying to access its Dome.
Can someone advise me how to get up to the Dome?
I have asked the Cathedral’s security guards, sales clerks in the gift shop, etc. No body can tell me.
Thanks
I sometimes study courses on-line at the Coursera website, and I thought I would recommend one on here called The Age of Cathedrals:
https://www.coursera.org/learn/age-of-cathedrals
It focuses on French cathedrals and I have just been learning about the beautiful rose windows in Notre Dame de...
I've been trying to find a list of all the items in that AMAZING Holy Chamber. The Catedral's website doesn't list all of the contents. If you know where I can find a list or forum thread or book, anything to learn about the contents in this room please, tell me. I was there last year and think...
After completing the Inglés on June 6th, I plan to take the train to León to rewalk some of my favorite stages of my 2017 Camino. I’d like to get my credential stamped at the Cathedral. I can’t remember if the gift shop is open during siesta, anyone know?
Thanks in advance.
