Greetings!
I will be flying into Madrid on September 6, 2023, scheduled to arrive at 8:05am on United. What is a reasonable amount of time to allow for baggage claim and clearing customs? I would like to catch an 11:45am flight to Bilbao, but not sure if that allows enough time. Thanks for any...

Five centuries of royal collections will go on display in the Spanish capital next month [Ed: the article mentions 2023-June-28] in a long-awaited £146m project"...
Hola,

Hi all,
The '23-24 college year will be my last as a professor (retiring next year, can't wait) and as a result, I've been asked to plan a Study Abroad trip for 2 weeks over the Holiday season in late December and early January. As a result Phil and I are rethinking our summer plans so I can...
Just ending a week in Madrid prior to heading out to serve as a hospitalero in Aragon and thought I’d give a brief update with info for pilgrims traveling through or starting from this fine city!
AIRPORT: despite it being one of the busiest in Europe, immigration was quick and efficient. Easily...
I arrive at Barajas on direct flight from US at 6:30 AM w/ checked baggage. Can I make the 10:30 train to Santiago? Or would it be better to plan on taking the afternoon train (1:15?)? Can I purchase a ticket that would be valid on either? Or do I need to lock into a specific time? Thanks ~
I will be arriving in Madrid at 9am and will likely want to immediately rest because of the travel and time change. Can any of you recommend a place to stay that has an early check-in?
Looking for the best way to get from Madrid Airport to the bus station at Estacion Sur. Our flight lands in Madrid at 11.45 and our bus leaves at 14.30. We will just have cabin baggage. I don't want to take a taxi if I don't have to because of the cost.
Thanks for any advice.
Are there any “nice” hotels/suburban towns near Madrid airport that would allow for a walkabout, decent food, something to see/do? Must come from Santiago and overnight for late morning flight to US. I’m not opposed to staying in Madrid if there’s a section closer to airport.
Looking for suggestions of where to stay for an overnight stop in Madrid between flights, fora single female arriving at night on a tight budget. Airport hotels are out of the price range. Someplace with an easy train or metro connection, auberge style is fine. Thanks!
For my next Camino I head back home by flying SdC to Madrid, change flights, then back to Australia.
As always in these times, my flight bookings have been changed a couple of times.
So rather than be frustrated that my carefully planed travel arrangements have been screwed up.........
I see it...
Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in Madrid where one might get a private room that won't break the bank?
My mother and I are finishing our Primitivo in a couple of days, and I'm realizing that the enforced closeness with another person in a double room for two weeks is...

Hi, I'm planning on walking the Camino Invierno next March/April. I'll fly to Madrid, stay overnight and on to Ponferrada the next day, probably by bus.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel or hostal near the bus station please?

Spain will soon have its own Camino de Santiago International Information and Welcome Center, like those that receive pilgrims in Portugal and France. The center will be in the historic Convent of the Comendadoras de Santiago in central Madrid.

Kia ora from New Zealand. On previous camino I have had a credential sent to NZ.
This time we are planning to walk the Camino de Madrid in May and with postage being very slow to New Zealand I hope I can still access a credential in Santiago and San Juan Bautista. Would anyone know if this is...
Hi All, I'm starting my trek from Madrid mid May and need to purchase hiking poles before I set out. Where in Madrid would you recommend I go to buy these? I'd like something close to Santiago Square where I'll be starting and likely lodging before I head out. So excited to be walking this route!
Would anyone kindly recommend a good place to spend 2 nights at the end of May (for 2 people) in Madrid after our Camino before flying home.
I'm looking for something nice, within walking distance of views and tastes of the city, preferably an airport shuttle (though that's not a deal breaker)...
If anyone is starting the Camino Madrid at this time, they surely would have seen this street scene when going to obtain their credential from the Iglesia de Santiago & San Juan Bautista in Madrid. Each year there are about 20 of these "Meninas", based on the characters festured in the painting...
