Time of past OR future Camino
Approximately starting March 31, 2018 from St. Jean.....
Bueno!!

I am landing in Biaritz, March 30th, 2017 and finding my way to SJPP; Not sure if I'll take a train or bus yet, any suggestions?

Also, I am only planning on bringing a silk bag liner. And hopefully getting a blanket at night....What do you think?

Hi Kate

I'm going on camino on April 12th but from Logrono so you'll be a few days ahead of me. When I went last year I got in quite late to Roncesvalles in June, didn't take a sleeping bag and it was COLD at night. Basically I slept in all my clothes with my fast dry towel on top of me and was still pretty cold. If you're prepared to wear your clothes when the blankets arent around then yes.

Hi Kate,
There's a Chronoplus bus 14 from Biarritz airport to Gare Bayonne. Then SNCF Ter train 62 from Bayonne to SJPDP.
Last year 10th April I used a lightweight sleeping bag and was glad of it. And I will be doing the same again this year.
Buen Camino!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I walked during a mostly warmer time of year, but I did experience a few cold damp nights. I brought this super light down throw blanket from Montbell which I tucked into my silk liner to keep me warm.

Kate:

Buy a sleeping bag unless you plan on staying in private accommodations.

In April on the Camino Frances - better take a sleeping bag - blankets are less and less frequent in albergues these days (bed bug hiding places! ;-) if you only plan to stay in pensions/hotels - that is another matter.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I would say for the month of April a sleeping bag would be a good idea, but make sure it's the smallest, lightest one you can carry that is in the temperature use range you want.
I used blankets quite a bit at the albergues. Most of the ones I stayed in had them. I never had a problem with bed bugs. I wouldn't sweat that.
