Hello from Betanzos,
The big news over the last two days is the heatwave in Santiago. TVE1 are showing folk in bathing costumes taking the rays.
Me, I have been lumbering up and down the green hills of Northern Galicia. Thoroughly enjoying the exercise, but progress is pretty slow given the conditions and the heat.
and the humidity: taking a walk though a pine forest at the moment is like entering a Nordic Steam Room.
Tomorrow is the Big One with the 28/30/34 km to Brumas. I expect to be parboiled by 6pm tomorrow evening.
And not a single soul on the route.
Furthermore, we are in austerity Spain, with a surprising number of cafes and bars shut. Even the Tourist information in Portadeume is "permanently closed". A worrying sign.
But I recommend this route to anyone, whether an old hand or a novice. There is so much to recommend on this route.
Kind regards to each of you
