Camino Francis (April 2015)
23 April 2015 - Pallas del Rei to Arzua -- 28 Kms

Wow -- slept in and did not get moving until 0900 hours -- was actually pretty nice, since it was going to be a short hike --- cannot believe saying 28 kms is a short hike -- three weeks ago it would have been a heart attack --

Lots of folks out on the Camino -- was very cool to see -- talked to a bunch -- most starting from Sarria, but also quite a few who started from Leon -- the simple fact that they are out here is a statement in itself -- lots of folks taking limited time to walk "Their Camino" -- Good on em --

Saw Norm from Idaho today -- he blitzed by while I was taking a break -- guy is an animal at 65.

Today was a bit weird -- I mean the weather was great, especially after yesterday where it pretty much sucked -- I mean I did the Lt. Dan thing "Is That All You Got" -- Yep -- was that type of day on Wednesday -- but today -- my body was not in sync - feet hurt, knees hurt, etc.. So after about 10 kms -- took a break -- took off the boots, rubbed down the knees with my special ointment with ibuprofen in it and had a bite to eat -- after that -- things seemed to get back in sync --

Was a lazy hike -- took my time -- did three or four breaks, because I could and then reached my objective for the day and found a place to crash -- and had a great Pilgrim's Meal -- soup -- fish and a bit of ice cream -- did I mention wine and water? Wine was good -- the water - yep -- tasted like water.

My Wife did send me an email this evening and asked me where I was -- I told her "Spain" -- Not sure how she is going to react to that one -- may have to hitchhike back to Brussels -- I really need to think before I hit send -- some things never change.

The next two days looks like rain -- most would groan -- me - I am kind of looking forward to my clothes being washed by the rain -- I noticed today - well -- I kind of smell -- at least my Hiking Shirt and UA T-Shirt --- did not sniff my socks -- that would be wrong -- the real acid test will be how long my wife hugs me in Santiago, before she informs me that I stink -- will let you know how that works out : ) - it better be a long hug, thats all I can say.

Really nice country out here -- lots of interval training up and down the hills -- nothing compared to what I have experienced in other places along the Camino -- these are tame -- downhill still hurts -- but is what it is.

40 kms left to Santiago -- Hard to believe -- I mean very hard to believe --

Buen Camino
