3 stages of Transit

Heyo everyone,


I am currently in the planning stages for my camino, and am trying to figure out exactly how I am going to get to and from the trail. Right now I am looking at the following.

Part 1

- Arriving at CDG from BDL
- Hailing a Taxi
- Arriving at my first Hostel: Rue d'Orsel 75018 Paris, France
- Spending 2 nights there

Part 2: (This is where i need help figuring out the rest)

- Leaving from "Rue d'Orsel"
- Grabbing a train? bus? I've come to know the simplest and most direct route to be the best, but i could use assistance figuring this one out

-Arriving at SJPDP
Staying for 1 night and then beginning the camnio

---
Part 3:

- Arriving in Santiago
- Spending one night
- Taking a bus?/train?/something to BCN
- Flying home


Any advice filling in some of these blanks would be appreciated!

There are many threads which give detailed instructions on how to get to/from certain cities so you might want to do a bit of searching on the forum. Good luck!

The train from Paris to Bayonne then to SJPdP is probably cheapest and most efficient.

The bus from Santiago to Barcelona is least expensive but takes a long time. Flying from Santiago to Barcelona on Iberia Airlines is probably your best bet for time and money, and you will be at the Barcelona airport instead of the bus station.

There is a bus perhaps 2 if I remember correctly, 2 buses from Santiago to Barcelona - Good News, always start with good news. Now for the bad news, it takes something like nine hours and more if you are forced by timetable considerations to come through Madrid and nine hours on a Spanish bus will result in leg cramps, frozen joints, back pain, your first migraine, over focusing on the bladder and its contents since rest stops are few and far between, in short IF you are still able to walk at the end of the bus ride, you will be a different, changed person. Trains - the good news, no problem there either, the trains in Spain are very comfortable, efficient, run on time and have food service and restrooms on board. Now for the bad news, they are expensive, it will cost almost as much on a train as to fly it - Santiago has a wonderfully small and friendly airport, do consider flying, the difference in price is not that great, more pilgrim friendly, and will save you a visit to your chiropractor or physical therapist when you do return home.

Why not get on the """Blue Line""" when at CDG and take the train to Gare Du Nord
It is then a nice 5-10 minutes walk to Rue D' Orsel.
We have done the same many times.

****Book early and fly out of Orly to Biarritz/Bayonne.
Maybe even CDG on Air France.
One hours flight.
Again the "Blue Line " to either airport.

There is enough info on the train from Biarritz to StJ.

Our first two caminos, we flew from the US to Madrid, spent a night there, took a train to Pamplona, spent a night there, then took a bus to St Jean and spent a night there. It was great to enjoy the towns before starting Camino Frances. Our third camino, we flew to Barcelona, took a train to Pamplona, etc. We are planning to hike our 4th CF this September. We already have plane reservations and private room reservations every night of our camino.

I've been anxious to make train reservations for our upcoming camino, and have been trying on several websites. Today I was successful and made train reservations from Madrid to Pamplona on Sept 15. Next will be bus reservations from Pamplona to St Jean. And for the International travel restrictions to be lifted. Next week I get my second vaccine shot. Hoping all will be clear for our Sept-Oct camino ! Bob
