The Xunta enables temporary shelters for pilgrims

The Consell de la Xunta was informed on Thursday of an investment of 1.38 million to enable 32 temporary shelters for pilgrims in the Holy Year, in various municipalities where the expected higher demand for places. Of these, eleven locations correspond to the province of Lugo.

The agreement has been signed with 26 municipalities and six community partners. Thus, temporary shelters for pilgrims in Abegondo, Pontedeume, Boimorto, Melide Arzúa, O Pino (A Coruña), Pedrafita do Cebreiro, Palas de Rei, Ribadeo, Barreiros, Abadín, Triacastela, Samos, Sarria, Paradela, Portomarín, Monterroso ( Lugo), Rios, A Gudiña, Xunqueira of Ambía (Ourense), A Guarda, Tui, Portas, Caldas de Reis, Silleda and Redondela (Pontevedra).

With regard to partners, it is Maria Seoane Colmeiro Foundation, the inorder, the community of Santa María de Sobrado dos Monxes, the Confraternity of Saint James (Ferrol), the community and Our Lady of Mercy Sarria to Santiago Way Foundation .

According to the Department, the signature of the agreements "will improve service to citizens, increasing housing opportunities and contribute to the promotion of tourism the Camino de Santiago, and the dissemination of its history and artistic heritage.

As to the premises provided in the province of Lugo, twelve in all, this is the following:

•French Road.
Sports Center on Rua Pedrafita Cervantes,
municipal warehouse in Palas de Rei,
Triacastela school pavilion,
covered space in the public square of Samos,
pavilions Paradela, Portomarín and Sarria,
shelter from the parish of Ligonde (Monterroso)
and the A monastery of Magdalena, the Mercy of Sarria.
Also included in the agreement of the stately conference and pavilion Melide O Viso, in Arzúa.
•Northern route. Vilela rural school in Ribadeo; Gondán refuge in Barreiros; Abadín municipal flag.
•Other routes. The places authorized in Palas de Rei and Melide also benefit the primitive path, and those of Triacastela and Samos, the Via de la Plata.
