I keep reading on huge amounts of km per day...
I wonder why?...the message of the Camino comes not with speed but with reflection that only a paced walk can give...
I personally think 30 daily would be strenuous , a good 25 max would be best maximum.
How can you miss the beauty around you ,if you
just clock up the miles...

This year the Western States 100 mile (161 km) race across the Sierra Nevada was won in a time of just over 14 hours. Figure St. Jean Pied de Port to Logrono in one long day. Eek!

I did Ourense to SdC in 13hrs, as an ultramarathon -- 114km, including going a bit wrong. Couldn't walk too well for the next 3 days or so though, so I think the vixen would have outpaced me after a couple of days!

Why did the young fox travel 46 km a day?
Because there was no room at the the albergue, so she had to carry on...
In time, it turned out there were no albergues to be had either....!

In your dreams. Some days she covered as much as 155km - at temperatures ranging from -9ºC to -15ºC (in March), catching her own food, dodging polar bears, and helping out falcon269's frozen Rottweiler, mind you.

My old boss used to say - just because you can doesn’t mean you should! I might be able to do one 46 kms day but probably couldn’t walk the next day or the day after that.....
