A 6 Hour Series on the Camino

I'm sure somewhere on this forum this may have been posted in the past.
But I just stumbled upon it today.
It is a 6 hour series on the Camino.
The host of the show literally walks the entire way, and shows you while he goes.
It's pretty cool.

It was recorded in 2010, so the Camino isn't as busy, but it's a fun way to look back at "the way it was."

Gaiam TV is actually a yoga website that you pay by the month to join.
But the first month is only 99 cents!
So, you can join, watch the series, then cancel if you wish.
I love Gaiam - it's my favorite yoga hotspot.

I felt sorry for the black and white dog in the bit on Alto de Perdon.
He appeared to be limping.

The host's name is Chris Newland and the series was about the great walks around the world.
The dvd itself is over an hour and a half.

This is a nice clip from it, but where are the pilgrims??

He interviewed quite a number of pilgrims in the series I've been watching on gaiam tv.
But he did some things that bugged me, like drinking from the spigot at Irache (which he pronounced "a rash") lol!
But the scenery shots were stunning and it makes me want to put on my shoes and get going!

I think what I have is a condensed and repackaged version of what you have watched.
It has a different title as well.
True though, the scenery is fab. I haven't walked there at that time of the year.

Thanks for the tip........sick in bed (nothing serious ) so perfect to watch. I started right away. Not at the dog part yet. Looks great already the first 10 minutes

Almost done with episode 3 . LOVE it. Annie was right...Great series for everybody who is interested in the Camino. And yes Annie....poor dog

I look forward to watching this Annie. I just walked into Santiago yesterday. Even from my perspective as a newbie, all I can say is I am so glad I did this now. Sorry to say, but the writing is on the wall. Commercialism is taking over, as are the cyclists. The tour business will eventually take it over. We had a tour in front of us that not only took up all the rooms, but cafes as well. Lines for the loo out the door. Cyclists have no regard for walkers. They have a 'me first' attitide. I was almost hit three times simply because mamy of them they don,t signal. I KNOW all cyclists are not so self absorbed, but it is definitely a problem. The journey brought me a lifetime of memories, but because I see what's coming, I have no desire to do it again. I made lifelong friends. That alone is reward enough

Not condoning drinking from the spiket (at all), but such a high % of peregrinos do it nowadays, that it almost doesn't matter. We're all swapping Irache germs like it or not.

Congratulations for making your Camino.
I'm so sorry you had so much trouble with the bicycles.
I think a lot of it has to do with the time of year, also.
Fall seems to be very busy.

Yes, the Camino is changing - and I'm not sure if this is the top of a wave that will eventually slow down or if it's the future.
For now, I prefer the less-traveled routes for myself.
This may be my last year to walk... we'll see how it goes.

Maggie I cycled the France Camino from Pamplona - for around 500 km I followed the walking pilgrims Camino - departed early Sept. I can honestly say that I did not see ONE cyclist who did not cooperate with the walkers. I have to admit that I was a lone cyclist for much of the time and I USED my BELL to warn of my approach. When it was crowded I often hopped of and walked around the other pilgrims. On the aspect of "crowded Camino's" well I will agree that it is becoming a problem - I was totally amazed at the increased numbers west of Samos / Sarria - I almost longed for the empty Meseta??
