A Message on the Camino...

All:

One day while walking on the meseta, I found the following message on a piece of paper under a rock. It was placed dead center on the Camino trail. Pilgrims often leave messages along the Way for one another. But this one kind of sums up the bittersweet quality of meeting and parting from other pilgrims:

For my friends:

Perhaps sometimes we get too high,
too bright, too close, too soon.

Perhaps we love each other more than we can
bear, and it's just too much to handle.

So we abandon, destroy, and start anew.

Something fresh, something good, something mine.

Not to hanker after, and grasp for you,
but to let you go your own way,
as I go mine.

And there we find patience, peace, and kindness,

in our own separate hearts.

Not to seek each other out impatiently,
But to walk in faith;
that maybe, maybe,

We will meet again.

I took a picture of this message and put it back under the stone. Sometimes I wonder who wrote it, and why. But it deserves to be preserved, IMHO... :arrow:
