A new Pilgrim's Hostel in Compiègne,France (Un nouveau gîte)

New Member
The Hostel is managed by the Confraternity of the Friends of Saint James in Compiègne. It is located less than 1km from the town centre.
As far as we know, it is the only hostel in France, North of Paris. We hope that it will be the first of many and so help to revive the Northern European network of hostels for pilgrims on their way to Compostella.

* Opening hours : from 16h30 to 09h00 the following day.
* Pilgrims may stay for one night only.
* The price is 10 euros per pilgrim per night.
* Only pilgrims with a valid credencial will be admitted to the Hostel.
* There are 8 beds available.
* The hostel is open from mid-April until the end of September.

Pilgrim's arriving at the hostel will find the door locked. So, the first thing to do is to go to the Tourist Office which is situated Place de l'Hôtel de Ville ("Town Hall Square"). There, upon presentation of their credencial and payment for the night, they will be given the hostel key and directions.

If you can read French, there is more info at
http://www.casajac.org

Please spread the news, especially to pilgrims and places in North-Eastern France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Thanks,

Seamus

Bonjour,

* Heures d'ouverture : 16h30 à 09h00 le lendemain.
* Le séjour est limité à une nuit.
* Prix de la nuitée : 10 euros par pèlerin.
* L'accueil au Gîte est reservé aux pèlerins munis d'un crédencial.
* Le gîte est ouvert à partir du mi-avril jusqu'à fin septembre.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Ooooops !

I forgot to mention ....

Compiègne is in the département de l'Oise in the Picardie region, 85 km north of Paris.

Pilgrims arriving from the North, will find Compiègne between Noyon and Senlis. Those arriving from the East (Reims, Laon, Soissons) will find Compiègne handy enough, that's where you have to turn left and head South to Senlis and Paris.
