A precious moment on my Camino

On Monday 7 Sep, I was walking (with fellow pilgrim Paul) the last few kilometres into Burgos. It was a hot and dustry and for the first time since leaving SJPP I felt really weary. We left the airport perimeter fence and joined the main road - a real muddle of roadworks, diversions but fortunately plenty of yellow arrows to mark the route. I turned to Paul and, slightly tongue in cheek, said, 'do you think there is a little man with a pot of yellow paint over his arm and a paintbrush in his hand walking the Camino ahead of us?' A couple of hundred metres further on we found ourselves searching for an arrow - none to be seen. At that moment a short, elderly man crossed the road in front of us - yes you guessed it - he had a pot of yellow paint over his arm and a paintbrush in his hand, and he proceeded to paint a yellow arrow on the corner of the wall in front of us. Talk about the Camino providing what you need, when you need it!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I love it, I remember the last few km into burgos-having missed the river route and for the first time on the camino walking into a city and by then being so reliant on those arrows that became so comforting as the way progressed-oh to have them all the time pointing out the direction to take in life.

Thank you for teh wonder post and memeory. When I walked this last year, my walking partner Jim from Northern Ireland, often mused "what wouldl stop a rascal painting misleading arrows along the way?". Just a horrid thought.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
We somehow got off a street or so toward the end of this endless walk into Burgos. We were on a very well traveled street with many local people walking around. A well dressed man ran after us and directed a couple of blocks over to get back on the proper street. He insisted on walking with us until he could show us the shells implanted in the street. On the way he told me that he had walked the Camino the year before and lived in Burgos.
Actually, he spoke Spanish to me and I, no doubt, replied in gibberish but we did seem to understand each other.
