a distant dog barks

cars spit along nearby wet roads
a lawnmower discordantlty hums a summer song

a passerby puffs a greeting
a bike approaches from behind
two tui chase in circles

a brook babbles
a torrent gushes
wind whistles
raindrops whisper
still stones crunch

the presence of a truck surprises on this private path

an aeroplane approaches

the aeroplane disappears
a fading melody
