Apologies if this has already been posted in another thread, but I thought it was worth mentioning for those pilgrims nearing Santiago now, or headed for their Camino in the near future...

Apparently, every 100 years the Convent of San Francisco provides their own unique Compostela to incoming pilgrims. Simply take your credencial to the Convent (only 100 or so meters down Rua San Francisco from the Cathedral, located adjacent to the Hotel San Francisco) and the Franciscan order will hand you a very lovely Compostela, also in Latin, (Sancti Francisci Conventus Compostelae) with their own sello. This is in celebration of the 800th year of the Peregrinacion de San Francisco de Asis. It is very much worth the very short walk down Rua San Francisco to see their beautiful church. Don't be at all surprised if the monk even stands and gives you a hug! We received both our second Compostela AND the hug upon completion of our Camino on 05 August. Worth every step! :)

Buen Camino!

Hi SuziK! I’m traveling now and won’t be home to take a look at it for another few weeks. I don’t have a true translation for it other than mostly guessing at what look like “similar-to-English” words, or trying to recall some of my high school Latin from 45 years ago! 😁 I’ll have another look when I get home and will see what I can do.
Cheers!
