In North Carolina we are ordered to stay home from work and not to be in public places unless for medicine or food. We are encouraged, however, to get outside (practicing safe physical distancing) and exercise. I have decided to make the most of this liberty and have broken the Camino Frances into 45 stages, of 10 miles each (approximately). Today I began my virtual Camino and plan to “arrive” no later than May 31st. I cannot tell you how good it felt to rise before dawn this morning, lace up my boots and put on my pack...and take those first steps. I may not be in Spain. I may be walking the same path every day. But I still have my pack, and my memories, and my pictures...and this is good for my soul. Buen Camino my friends...stay healthy!

Hi Eric! First of all let me wish you a Buen Camino!

Being locked down, or maybe almost locked up, here in France your option is not possible for me - we are allowed one hour out and have to stay within a radius of 1km from home, have to carry a paper indicating name, address, date and hour of leaving for a list of specific activities, eg. shopping, physical activities unaccompanied plus carry an identity card.

And today my family (7 adults and 7 children) and I were going to start my 80th birthday camino from Mondoñedo to Santiago. Great disappointment! However we all “zoomed” into Mondoñedo yesterday, explored the town on Google maps and earth, went into the cathedral and finally found the camino. Today is our first stage to Abadin. We will meet again in one hour and so again every day until our arrival in Santiago next Friday.

How about that for an adventure!?!

Again buen camino!
