Accommodation Camino Sanabres

Hi all, I’m arriving in Madrid Monday 13th September to start the Sanabres from Granja du Moreruela Has anyone any information re Albergues on this route, are there many people walking the Sanabres ?
I appriciate any info, I’ve been on Gronze etc but info seems to be scarce !

I’m really excited ! I’m sure it will all work, it’s more curiosity on my behalf rather than concern. It seems that the Albergues are reopening constantly, I’ll post what I find.

It seems like of all the websites that are trying to keep up to date that Gronze.com does the best job.

mspath mentions this site above. I have checked it out a few times but never have used it. I do not see (just looked at 2 stages where there is a notation that an albergue may be closed. It has the standard hostel availability tag. Maybe mspath can show us if there is an open/closed marking because of Covid.
I would download the Buen Camino and Wise Pilgrim apps. They are free and may have listings that Gronze doesn't. Call ahead to make sure an albergue is open. It may read open but I have walked late in the year and that is never really accurate.
Also remember that there are less choices as you are walking a far less traveled route. I will be starting in Sevilla and walking to Santiago and Muxia starting October 14th so I too would love to know your experiences.

Hi. I hoping to start from Seville on 14 September and while I have asked fo information on albergues I have received no info. It seems to me that all the municipal albergues are closed certainly the ones in Riego del Camino, Xunqueira de Ambia and Castro Dozon are closed. So much for those saying that all the albergues in Galicia are open. They are not.

Hello @Bunclody1 and @michaelwardick. Hope you both have a glorious walk! I loved it! I have a blog about the Sanabrés, with so much free information, that you may wish to have a look at, Camino Sanabrés. You can learn from our mistakes!

I have heard here on the forum that indeed, the Castro Dozon albergue is closed. But, the one in Xunqueira de Ambía may be open, check here, on this Spanish, Camino Mozárabe/Via de la Plata-specific website. (There are 3 other accommodations in Xunqueira, if you check on my useful map for this stage, by clicking here.) The same Spanish website does state the the albergue in Riego del Camino is closed, click here.

Be sure to stop in Santa Marta de Tera to see the oldest known statue of Santiago! Click here for more information about that! The albergue in Santa Marta de Tera, unfortunately is still closed, but it appears that the one in Calzadilla de Tera is open, another 12 km farther on.
