starting out from St Jean Pied de Port on 29 May 2015
I am arriving in St Jean on 28th amy pm and was wondering if I should book a hostel in advance or should I just go on spec. Are there many hostel? Any recommendations

Welcome Shane. If you want to stay in private accommodation check it through Bookings.com, if you want an albergue the Pilgrims office will sort one out for you.

Accomodation not likely to be an issue unless you expect to arrive very late at night after 23.00. As long as the Pilgrim office is open, they will sort you out. If not in a rush then spend a day there taking in a only French bit of the French Camino. If Orrisson is open then stay there and bring food jf going over the Nepolian routd for a picnic of incase you have take refuge in one of the shelters ..... buen camino
