Holla fellow perigrinos!

My beau and I will arrive in Porto in Mid-June to embark on the Camino Portugeuse. Do you have any suggestions on good, inexpensive accommodation in Porto?

Thanks in advance for your assistane!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Valerie, we found a lot of inexpensive beds in Porto. Don't be shy to go into a place and ask to see the rooms - they're fine with that.

While in Porto, be sure to go to the river and purchase a plate of "Sardinhas" from the lady barbecuing on the riverside. They were LUCIOUS! And if you have time, go to the other side of the river and visit some of the distilleries. We absolutely loved Porto!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Thanks to all for your very helpful suggestions last year -- they were put to good use. And, Anniesantiago, the sardinhas were marvellous -- thanks for the recommendation :)

Re: Accommodation in Lisbon

Hola mes amigos!

We're off to Lisbon end of September and heading out from there to OPorto.

While in Lisbon, do you have any recommendations on where to stay?!?! We'll be there a couple of days before venturing out.

Many thanks, in advance, for any and all assistance.

Bom Camino!

Valerie

Lisbon is full of places to stay. The central International Youth Hostel is nice, although noisy because of the way it is built. You may be able to reserve a private room if you act quick. It's better to stay on the OUTSIDE of the building if you have a choice as it's built like a big "O" with stairs up the middle so even if you're on the top floor, noisy party people coming in a 2 am will wake you up b/c the noise travels up the center. But it's nice, clean, and VERY convenient.

The Youth Hostel out at the coast is nicer, in my opinion, and quieter, but a bit of a walk into town. We also found an nice ensuite room up close to the Castelo with a great view for 34 euro.

There are little pensiones everywhere, usually advertised above your head as you walk... just go in and ask to see the room.

You might consider taking the train (very short trip) to Sintra and staying at the hostel there.. last time I stayed it was only 9 euro, could be more now. LOVELY, and plenty to see there, and a short train ride into Lisbon.

Eat bacalau while you're in Lisbon and don't miss the Museu de Coches (Museum of the Coaches) and the Military Musem. Both are really fascinating!

I would like to walk the river route in Tui next month. I can see on google maps exactly where it starts, but it seems a bit overgrown. Has anybody used this route this year or last year...
Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
Hi I have searched everywhere to see if there is a luggage service from Lisbon to Porto. I know there is from Porto to Santiago, but Lisbon ???. Thanks for any info.
