Accomodation in SJPDP

Hi everyone

Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in StJean? My sister and I are starting our camino at the beginning of Dec and had planned to stay at Esprit du Chemin but discovered today that it is already booked up. Was amazed as I thought I was getting in really early! Anyway, would be grateful for any recommendations. Thank you in advance - last time I posted got some v helpful replies.

:D

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
When we tried to book at Esprit du Chemin before we started our walk in May they also came back and said it was full. But when we arrived in St Jean we took a chance and went there and they had a sign up saying "2 places available"!!!

There is a municipal albergue in St Jean but I suggest you also take a walk past Esprit du Chemin you never know they might just have a place for you.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
I had great luck booking a bed and breakfast with tim@errecaldia.com. He has a 300 year old house in SJPDP with about 4 rooms that he rents. He even offered to pick me up from the train station! I found this place by searching web sites for accomodation in SJPDP< France. There are about 4 on the web if you search. I am booked in the last week of August and while it is the high season for travel in France I was lucky to be able to secure a place to stay after a long journey straight from Canada to the south of France>

I have sent 3 emails to the people at Esprit de Chemin and not had a single reply. :( Have others had the same problem? So this list will be good for me to see what other accommodation is available - thank you. Jane

Maggee. We have decided to stay there as well. Tim have offered to pick us up from the bus station at 10.20pm, even when no other albergues, hotels or b&b's would allow us to get in so late at night.
Of course the price isn't compareable with albergues, but you get a comfy bed, shower and good breakfast before you leave for camino. After many hours on the planes/trains and buses- I think we are worth it:)

Kuba.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Kuba, that is great news! I had visions of you sleeping on the cobbled street outside the doors of Esprit du Chemin on your first night!
Are you still going in December?

No Sil. Actually we are leaving in 5 weeks time on 18th of August.
Before that (two weeks from now) we are moving house to Yorkshire, so coast-to-coast will be our next holiday challenge I suppose.
Thanks for all your help- I will keep you updated from the road.

Kuba.
