Advice on baggage transfer

Hi my name is Angela I’m new to this forum. We are looking to do 1 week last 100km from Baiona to Santiago but we are travelling from New Zealand so will have luggage as we are doing a little exploring of France and Spain too.
Other than using a tour operator such as Camino or Santiago Ways which is obviously a less stressful option as bag transfers and accommodation is organised for you, is there an option to send our luggage to Santiago the last stop and walk one week with backpacks on but pre book hotels along the way.
Any advise would be amazing.
Thank you in advance

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Yes, what you want to do is both possible and quite easy. You can ship your luggage to Santiago via Correos, the Spanish post office, using their Paq Peregrino service that buys you better pricing. Any post office will accept your bag. Correos will also store the bags in Santiago for you, but more appropriately, the fine gentleman who runs this forum provides this service as well, and you can ship your luggage to Casa Ivar. You can also just ship your bags day to day to your accommodation if you wish. Lots of companies do it, with Correos and Jacotrans as two well known players. On the last 100 km, many others provide this service as well.

Using the accommodation to accommodation option that is mentioned by @Rick M , you don't really need to do anything in advance. Each night you fill in an envelope tag that you attach to your luggage with the next address on the outside, and the money inside the envelope. As long as you are staying in places that are directly on the camino you should have no problem as the luggage carriers run up and down the route all the time during the season.

If you want to send anything direct to Santiago de Compostela, and have Ivar store it, here is how to do it.

You can also use the post office in Santiago to store your luggage; make sure you have it labelled well.

I'm not positive, but I think that the discounted price for Paq Peregrino is only for mailing to another Correos office.

Hi Angela thanks for asking this question. I’m also comoing from NZ to do the Portugese Way from Porto in mid-August. My luggage is complicated as I am doing a week horse-riding beforehand in Scotland so I will have riding gear, wet weather geat etc which i need to send ahead. Sending it to Ivar seems to be the best option!

In a post-Brexit world, you should consider posting from within the EU. While the post office won't care, packages from outside the EU will be considered to be imports, even if they are your personal possessions. Only your luggage is exempt from that - everything else will get assessed for import duties, and held by customs until any duty is paid.

I would like to a send a cabin bag to Ivar from Pamplona prior to my Camino so do I use the post office or a courier as Correos, as indicated above, only deliver to their own depots?
Thx

The reference is to Paq Peregrino, which does store your baggage as part of that specialty service. It is possible to send items as ordinary parcels with the Correos, rather than use the Paq Peregrino service.
