Advice on Frances Stages March 2023

Time of past OR future Camino
2023 25March-30March
I have 5-6 days available to walk some of the Camino Frances starting 25 March, so soon.
I’m after advice on the best section to walk.
I’ll be coming from Salamanca, so could start anywhere after Pamplona.
Here are some of my criteria:
  • Doing the final leg reaching SDC isn’t important this time, I’ll be back.
  • Start and end points need to be accessible by public transport including connecting to each other
  • Luggage storage at the start or finish
  • Plenty of accommodation and ideally not having to book accommodation ahead
  • Recommendations on best scenery and towns/villages welcome
  • I’m generally comfortable walking around 20-25kms a day
However, I wonder if doing Sarria to SDC makes sense this time, as I suspect it won’t be too busy early in the season (anyone advice on that would be great). It might be a leg I wouldn’t want to repeat in a busy time of year.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
I agree with your suspicions. This is an ideal time to walk the Sarria-Santiago leg, and touches all your parameters. This early in the year, a lot of services are closed, but there are so many on that stretch you should have no problems.......except the Galician early spring weather.

This ticks all your boxes..

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Since you are in Salamanca anyway, why not walk the Camino Mozárabe from there? You can start your walk immediately, this will save you the time needed to travel to Pamplona or Sarria.

Where did you get this map? Did you make it yourself? I like the presentation of major stops.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
One option could be to walk the last part of the Primitivo from Lugo? You will join the CF at Melide. Lugo is much nicer than Sarria and worth visiting if you haven’t already.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
If you're starting on March 25th. you should be fine on the Sarria stretch but if your timing changes just be aware that there will likely be crowds at Easter and for a couple of weeks after. Muy buen camino!
