Please advise if this is doable:
1) Landing at Barcelona airport at 10:05 in the morning
2) Taking the train from the airport to Barcelona Sants train staion.
3) Taking the 12:10 train to Pamplona, arrivin at 16:06.
4) Taking the Alsa bus from Pamplona to SJPP, departing at 17:30.

If this will work out, I am planing to spend the night at SJPP and start the camino the next morning to Orisson.

It should work. The train station and bus station in Pamplona are not close to each other, so plan to take a taxi. Buen camino!

A taxi may be necessary in Barcelona, too, depending on the time it takes to clear customs.

Thank you so much for the quick response! Any idea of the approximate cost of taxi from Barcelona airport to Barcelona Sants station?

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Depending on your arrival gate there could be a long walk to the train at the airport eating up a lot of time. I think there are buses to get to that station that may save that time. Don't forget that you will have to get through customs before escaping the airport.

My recommendation is to taxi from the airport to Sants. Whatever the cost it will be cheaper than missing the connection to Pamplona and spending the night in Barcelona. Sants is large and getting from one place there to another can take some time. But I may be just remembering the connection between Sants and the subway.

I did a search for you and found this webpage that describes Sants, maps it, etc. You may find it useful: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/transport/stations/estacio-sants/barcelona-sants.html

the approximate cost of taxi from Barcelona airport to Barcelona Sants station?
It is around 30-40E. There is a train every thirty minutes, too, the T-10 line for Sants. The fare is about 5E. Buses also are available, but I think a transfer is necessary to get to Sants, and a transfer is necessary if you take the new subway (started in February).

Hello,
Getting from Barcelona Airport to Sants station is easy. There is a train that leaves from Terminal 2 in the airport approximately every half hour and takes less than twenty minutes to get to Sants. Here is a link for the schedule: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/barcelona/index.html. If you are arriving at Terminal 1, there is a frequent free shuttle bus service connecting the two terminals. The cost of the train from the airport to Sants station is about 1 euro. (We buy a T-10 pass for just under 10 euros that covers 10 trips on the local trains, buses, Metro, etc. It is valid for a year from the date of purchase and can be used by more than one person.) Don't forget to include time for customs clearance in your calculations.

3) Taking the 12:10 train to Pamplona, arrivin at 16:06.
4) Taking the Alsa bus from Pamplona to SJPP, departing at 17:30.
For Pamplona if you go to http://www.infotuc.es/index.php/es/ (in Spanish but usable) you can see the bus route from the RENFE train station to the bus station to get you to St. Jean. That is route L9 (line/linea 9). In the box labeled "HORARIOS Y SERVICIOS" pick the circle numbered "9" or in the box labeled "TIEMPO REAL" chose the drop-down item "RENFE - UNIVERSIDAD PÚBLICA DE NAVARRA". In either case you should see a map of the city and the bus route you want. The RENFE station is at the far left/west and you see the route travels just north of a large park, La Ciudadela. Zoom in on the map and you can see a building located at the east end of the park (within the park) marked with a bus symbol. That is where you get the bus to St. Jean. The road that the station fronts, Calle Yanguas y Miranda, is between two line 9 stops.

The Pamplona street bus page at http://www.infotuc.es/index.php/es/destinos-frecuentes/category/accesos-ciudad-2 will show you where the airport and bus and train stations are located and what street bus routes to take to each. Use the "open/abrir" arrow on the right to get the map.

[Edited to add the following: It appears that when you use the page http://www.infotuc.es/index.php/es/ when the night buses are running locally in Pamplona the day routes do not appear in the drop-down menu.]

The time appreciation looks okay (particularly the bit from Pamplona to SJPdP) but if your plane arrives even a few minutes late (a likely event) or there is an unusual line at border controls you won't make it.

I would allow a three hour window from time of arrival to time leaving the airport. You likely won't need that time but it does allow enough time for the usual travel delays associated with airplanes and airports to have confidence of making your train.

I have on more than one occasion been on flights that leave more than 3 hours late. I have been in customs lines that go for more than an hour.

That being said ... you might make it. Just be sure to have a plan 'B'

1210 train leaves Sants
You have 13 minutes to get from Rodalies train to Renfe train. There is likely a security screening ... so minimum 10 minutes is likely needed.
1157 Cercanias/Rodalies arrives Sants
1138 Cercanias leaves Airport Terminal 2
1133 Arrive T2 Cercanias/Rodalies station
1115 Arrive at T1 shuttle stop (*snap* it just left)
10 minutes every 4 minutes for shuttle from T1 to T2 (if you arrive at T2 you can remove this).
1035 You are off the plane and in line for customs. You have 40 minutes (including a bathroom break)
1005 Plane arrives (on time ... a miracle)

Do you have to fly in to Barcelona? Personally I'm flying in to Bordeaux. From there it's a 10Euro shuttle bus straight to Bordeaux St John train station and then it's an easy train and connection to SJPP.

I actually land late at night in Paris CDG and staying in an airport hotel for 70Euro. it was then actually cheaper to fly to Bordeaux than catch the train, and gives me plenty of time for a relaxing lunch. though you could fly into CDG and land prior to 8am, and catch the Trains straight from the airport to SJPP (via Bordeaux/Bayonne)
