Airport security

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Just when we’ve all been warned about hiking poles in your carryon the new warning is about those adorable “Snowglobes” . If you must have one for your collection buy the mini or empty all the liquid and snow. Or just take a picture home.
If the snow globe holds 100 ml or less of water put it in your liquids bag. 😊
And I haven't noticed any snow globes for sale on the Camino.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Exactly. The TSA advice is here. I presume that it is consistent with that of the European aviation safety authorities.
You presume correctly. A possible stumbling block could be that (in my rather limited experience) snow globes do not specifically state their volume. Whilst many security staff here in the UK are helpful, polite and doing a difficult job on low pay to the best of their ability, there are a few who can be ‘difficult’.

It’s possibly worth bearing in mind that ‘other souvenirs are available’!

I recall that they sell globes like this in the duty free / gift shop at Santiago’s airport, AFTER SECURITY. I saw them in August. By definition, this means you will be permitted to carry your purchase on board your flight from Santiago.

However, if your journey includes connections that requires you to go through aviation security again, you may lose the liquid filled globe.

For example, if I fly home to South Florida, but my first US place of entry includes a connection from my international flight to a domestic flight segment, I WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH TSA security again. They will confiscate the globe... PERIOD!

Your result may vary... For this of you who want to continue this cat and mouse game, as with hiking poles, have at it....

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
No cheap, gaudy sweat shoppe assembled snow globe is worth delaying my getting on a flight. Neither is any sweat shoppe manufactured trekking pole(s). It always amazes me when I see somebody at the security checkpoint trying to carry onto the flight obviously questionable items. Selfish and slows the entire process down.

Well, TSA wanted to confiscate the two bottles of wine I bought in the Madrid airport that were all sealed up properly. They said it was because the glass was frosted. That was a new one to me. They can do anything they want, apparently.

They just wanted or they did eventually confiscated them?
And the glass was frosted? Ahem..., err...

They gave me a choice: give them up or go all the way across the airport and hope there was time to check them. Guess what I did.. I ran through at least one terminal and checked my backpack with my wine inside. Barely made it back in time to get on the flight. I'm not givin' up my stinkin' wine! My theory is that the TSA agent was mad at me because I rolled my eyes when she couldn't figure out how to use an Osprey cordlock to open my pack, so she took it out on me by trying to take away the wine. I have never heard of items purchased in duty-free being taken away, but there you have it.

Anyway you still could've drank the wine if she would be so adamant ;)

EDIT: Buy new backpack so the TSA agents won't have so much trouble :D

I've seen liquids that were bought in duty free taken away when making a connection before, and it also happened to my son.

Available in Santiago and Finisterre. I know this useless information cause my daughter collects them. She must have a couple of hundred. Got stopped in Southampton airport 4 years ago airport because I had one in my bag. Girl on security told me that over the course of a summer, they confiscate hundredcs of them. That day she was feeling generous and let me through

So does my granddaughter so I just checked my bag on the way home. I’m not sure why people think it is so hard to check a bag. I hate caring anything around thru airports. My 1st airline trip was in the 50s and never lost anything.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

The only time I ever carry-on all my stuff on a flight is going to the Camino. I do it for two reasons.
(1) Even though I've never had lost luggage in countless airline flights I simply feel better having my backpack with me from A to B because it is all that I have and if it was lost I do not have time to stay in whatever city I am flying in to waiting to see if the airline locates my pack and gets it to me.

(2) If my pack is too big and too heavy to be reasonably carried on a flight, I am carrying too much stuff for the Camino. It is a way to keep me disciplined in pack weight and size. Also, if I cannot throw my backpack up in the air, over my head and then catch it in my hands, it is too heavy. That is another test I do before I leave.

Other flights? Heck, I check in almost anything. I cannot stand it when boarding iis delayed on a flight I am on because fellow passengers try and stuff enormous carry on bags into those bins. Ridiculous.
