Albergue in Grajal de Campos

I used the Johnny Walker guide for my just completed CdM. I found it to be an excellent resource, but noticed that it had no information on the albergue in Grajal de Campos. This is a shame, because it was the neatest place I stayed on my trip.

The albergue is located behind the unmarked glass doors in the Plaza Mayor, in the bottom of a 16th century palace. You need to call 692150506 to get the key. Once you're inside, you'll find 4 clean toilet/shower rooms, 20 bunks in the old dungeon, and unfettered access to the palace itself. Nothing was off limits and it was quite the experience.

There's also a nice bar and restaurant right off the Plaza and a mercado right around the corner from the church. Also, there's a large fort right down the street. All in all, I highly recommend a stop here, especially if you're trying to avoid the chaos that is the Camino Frances.

It has been mentioned already this year by at least two forum members that stayed there and if I remember correctly it was opened this spring so that's why it is not listed in the guidebook I guess.
In 2014 I also had a chance to sleep there but due to lack of funds they just finished the bathrooms part but I had to sleep on the floor. Unlimited access to the palace as well back then. Very memorable experience.
