I used the Johnny Walker guide for my just completed CdM. I found it to be an excellent resource, but noticed that it had no information on the albergue in Grajal de Campos. This is a shame, because it was the neatest place I stayed on my trip.
The albergue is located behind the unmarked glass doors in the Plaza Mayor, in the bottom of a 16th century palace. You need to call 692150506 to get the key. Once you're inside, you'll find 4 clean toilet/shower rooms, 20 bunks in the old dungeon, and unfettered access to the palace itself. Nothing was off limits and it was quite the experience.
There's also a nice bar and restaurant right off the Plaza and a mercado right around the corner from the church. Also, there's a large fort right down the street. All in all, I highly recommend a stop here, especially if you're trying to avoid the chaos that is the Camino Frances.
