I've just seen that the Albergue Villares De Órbigo, in unsurprisingly, Villares De Órbigo, has announced it's prices for 2017. Still cheap.
A very nice Albergue, with balconies overlooking a central courtyard. Clean, comfortable. Good bathrooms.
Run by a nice lady who speaks Spanish, English, German, French and Dutch, and is if i remember correctly, from Belgium.
One of the better albergues i stayed at.
It had one of those 1960's - 70's spin dryers too, very handy.
Villares de Órbigo is a short pleasant walk from Hospital de Órbigo.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Thanks for the info! Glad it's still going - I stayed there in 2013 when Pablo & Belen ran it - it was one of my very favourite albergues :)

Christine is such a nice person...of course : she is Belgian ;). No seriously she holds the hospitality torch high!

She also contributed to a beautiful Dutch tv docu about the Camino.

First minutes from the clip are an interview with her. Then some other clips are also about her and the albergue.
But the rest of the docu is worthwile to watch too, even if only in Dutch. In the interview she says that she is one of the youngest inhabitants of the village.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
It's a lovely albergue. I'm glad to hear that a new lovely hospitality has taken over because I really loved Pablo and Belén. If I ever walk the Francés again I'll stop there.

She lives in Spain and takes care of the albergue whereas her husband still works/ lives in Belgium seeing that living full time from the albergue is not an option.

Hi, Sabine,

Any chance of a link with English/German/Spanish subtitles??? Dutch is just too much for me :D

Thanks for the link anyway!

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
And how about her genourous and amazing cooking!
Careful with the schnapps at the end of the meal it's a good night cap.

Same for my wife and I...it was one of our favorites. The albergue was very quiet and clean. The only other pilgrims there at the time were a group of eight, who stayed in one of the larger rooms, and Japanese couple who had the two-bed room. We had a six-bed room to ourselves. We especially enjoyed the American-style breakfast of bacon and eggs prepared by Pablo and Belén, who were the hosts at the time.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

This is one of the best albergues on the CF. The communal dinner is really fun

We overnighted in March 2017. We were the only pilgrims there.
Christine is a sweet, thoughtful woman. We plan to stay over again this March. Room is basic but quite clean and we had a private bathroom with hot water! Skip the crowds in Hospital de Orbigo!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
One of my favourite albergues on the CF. Christine is a great hostess, funny, kind, dedicated - and a terrific (non vegetarian) cook! Very reasonable accommodation charge and donativo for breakfast and dinner. She aims only to cover her costs so that she can keep going.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
She saved my, and my fellow pilgrims 'backside' back in 2014. We had slept the night before in Hospital de Orbigo and Sunday morning absolutely nothing was open. So we poked in your faces, pleaded for mercy and she gave us a great breakfast - and yes, we left a good donativo - enough to feed half a dozen of pilgrims the next day - we were so thankful. Long may she continue! Buen Camino, SY

And she closes only from half December till end of January.

It is not easy to compete with the larger towns, but Christine's warmth and care makes up for it! Do stop in Villares and stay with her ! She is indeed a fabulous cook!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Agree with all it is one of the best and Christine is wonderful, stayed twice before and will stay this April.
