Oh yes indeeed, this is great news! Now that the old Lindamar seems to have given up on pilgrims altogether, it is terrific that there is now a decent day's walk from Merida. Not that I didn't like Casar de Cáceres and its gooey strong smelly cheese, but I would much prefer to stay in Cáceres and walk on through the next day. Thanks for the news, Amancio. Hope you are not walking when the Forum gaggle starting in Almería passes through Granada. ;)

I hope so too, it is my usual Camino time of the year, unless next year my wife takes over! I actually did a little bit of the Mozárabe over the weekend, the feared hill between Olivares and beautiful Moclín, it was great to walk among yellow arrows for a good hour!!!

Yes, that is great news. However, I hope that this doesn't have a negative impact on the fabulously comfortable Albergue de Cañaveral, 11 km later, where the delicious food, modern bathrooms, cotton sheets and comforters were so welcome after 34 km!

Also read the news on Gronze! So excited, because I had to train to Canaveral. I think there will still be enough business for Canaveral: town was fully bookd when I was there, including hotels, pensiones, etc., also the albergue is not just for pilgrims but is a regular tourist albergue and apparenly many people staying there are people booking for whole weeks or longer by people who come to work in the area.

I wonder if they ever had to pay any sort of fine in the end.

Claire: have you looked for flights to Malaga/Sevilla? Prices are up 50% from last year ...

I’m at Almadén de la Plata at the moment, and my options for tomorrow are to go as far as El Real de la Jara (approx 14km) or continue on to Monesterio (approx 34km). 34 km is a bit far for day 4...
