Aljucen Easter procession

This video has been produce in Aljucen on Easter day weekend in 2019 while walking de Via de la plata camino.

Most of the people carryings the religious modules are pilgrims that I meet while walking de camino. All the people of Aljucen were present during this procession. It was very emotional for us to participate with all of them.

Hi Jean
I recognise some of these pilgrims in your video - I was probably there (at Aljucen), watching a similar, procession the following day .
I met and walked with Ilse (the lady in the blue top with skirt in your video ) further along the camino.
Easter is such a wonderful time to walk - seeing processions each day in most of the villages plus the grand one in Mérida. Such an experience.

Hi Annie

I know Ilse too and you walk a long time with her, I think I have pictures of both of you.

We were part of a wave of pilgrims that we were meeting often along the way. What an amazing experience to walk the camino.

if I find the pictures of you and Ilse I will send them in PM.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

@jungleboy Thanks for your reply.
:) Ask first, read later - sorry. Nevertheless - a "Yes, sure" would have made me happy!!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I just found a picture that was produce in the Aljucen church at the end of the procession. You can see all the pilgrims participating and the religious members.

I was the person doing the video. I understand that some of the pilgrims on the picture are active on this web site.

Hi Jean.
Good photo I don’t recall seeing you in person around that date but recognise Ilse in back row and also Dave from UK who pops into pic (in front of Ilse between man in green and smiling priest). I believe he had to return home early (fro. Sanabrés, to sort his feet out. I don’t know any forum members in this group though.(except that now I recognise you of course ).
Buen camino

Good to see the locals giving the pilgrims some work to do!

Hi all! Once again I am heading back to Spain; this time to walk much of the Sanabres with my son; starting in Rionegro del Puente after a few sightseeing days first in Salamanca and Zamora...
After a smooth and uneventful flight from Chicago to Madrid on Iberia, the last three days we have been doing some sightseeing in Salamanca and Zamora, and our days have been sunny, a little cool...
I’m at Almadén de la Plata at the moment, and my options for tomorrow are to go as far as El Real de la Jara (approx 14km) or continue on to Monesterio (approx 34km). 34 km is a bit far for day 4...
For anyone around Sevilla, next Saturday marks the end of the annual week long fiesta. I have just had a conversation, as I do weekly (to help her with English), with a friend who is from there...
One route looks a bit steeper, one a bit longer (not much). How else are they different? Recommendations?
