Alloy or Carbon?

I'm thinking of buying the Pacerpoles as they seem to come highly recommended! My only doubt is whether to get alloy ones or carbon ones. Any special reason for choosing one or the other? All input much appreciated. Thanks.

Carbon is slightly lighter, but if it breaks, you have two pieces of unusable stick. A metal (aluminum) pole may bend, but you can almost always recover its use, even if it no longer collapses down to its smallest size. I walked with a Finn who broke one carbon pole, and had to buy an expensive new set in Spain. He bought aluminum.
