Time of past OR future Camino
walking every day for the rest of my life
I have finished everything I need to do before my next Camino. It is Monday evening. I fly Thursday afternoon.
I’ve decided to blog. But I won’t be on the forum once I leave home. I like to disconnect.
If you want to follow along i’ll be solo on the Madrid, then doing the San Salvador and Primitivo with hubby and three youngest kids. Home again in November.

Yesterday I made a new sunhat out of some old clothes. I especially love the brim:

I’m so ready to go that I’ve already got the leaving-day butterflies in my tummy!

Buen Camino Rachel
Your turn has rolled around .. yes you had a lot of your preparations for Madrid done before I walked in March. You would have a fine-tuned document now !!
What a great time to walk right now. I will follow you on your blog.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I"m looking forward to the blog. Meanwhile, can we see a photo of the whole hat?

With pleasure.....handstitched, upcycled old tshirt that had seen better days and a denim skirt I cut shorter last week....E3982900-66FE-47E9-963D-5158E98F68B1.jpeg9A501556-E1CB-44C0-A220-A0F54671B1E9.jpeg
On the back it says “and we can pick flowers along the way”
On top is: “Let’s go on a road trip” - I am still tempted to embroider “walking” over the road!

Oh, and after taking photos I sewed buttons on the inside so I could have a detachable chin strap for high winds

Love that hat, kiwi...you are so creative! But I do wonder how much weight all that thick red stitching will add to your packweight! Ha, just kidding.

I have thought about a similar route as you are doing; Madrid, Salvador, but then finish up the Norte as I veered on to the Primitivo from the Norte in 2016. I will look forward to following your blog! Have a buen camino!

Between Puerto de la Fuenfria and Valsain there is a fountain called Fuente de la Reina I was there one week ago. There was a fox looking at us from near waiting for eating something of our food. I hope you can also see him . Buen Camino.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Buen Camino, Rachel! Enjoy! I'll be following you on your Blog

No show! I don't have any more skirts. Besides, I'm wondering if the brim will not be wide enough to provide enough shade, but seeing as it is now raining I can't find out before leaving. I might just have to pull it down low over my nose if it's really sunny.

<blushes> I did weigh it. I'm taking it anyway. It will remind me every day of my recent resolve to stop buying fast fashion.

Safe journey Rachael. We might see you at Madrid airport! We will be arriving Friday morning in Madrid around 10am, taking the train to Leon and will start walking the camino del Salvador on Saturday.

I’m meant to be there at 8, but if I’m delayed I’ll hang around and look out for you. I have a blue Deuter pack (with forum patch and dangling handmade shells) and a big bumbag. Not likely to be wearing my hat;-)
Buen Camino to you too!

Great hat! I will be watching your blog with keen interest, not only to enjoy the walk through your eyes, but to see if I am right in thinking that the Madrid Camino might be the one camino, other than the Camino Frances, that I could walk on my own. I feel it calling me, but I'm not sure I am confident enough to go solo.
Have a wonderful time!

Thanks Rachael. Oh great, be so nice if we met! Sounds like you be easy to spot, we just look like mum and son (11) with blue rucksacks and perhaps a shell we've yet to find on our local beach in the morning :) Ps looking more Dutch than Irish, both wavy dark blond hair..
