That's good news, Sil, but don't forget all the extras with Ryanair. E.g. next Tuesday 10th November they're advertising a £9.99 flight from Stansted to Santiago de Compostela, but add on £5 charge for online check-in, £29.27 taxes etc., and a new thing they've brought in: it now costs you £5 to pay by card with Ryanair (which you would do booking online!). That comes to £49.26 if you take your rucsack as hand luggage (if not, it's an extra £15.)

Which is nothing like the advertised price! The prices are still reasonable, but remember if you are up to £64.26 with one checked item of luggage - from that original advertised bargain of £9.99 - you can probably find seats as cheap with other airlines. If you fly to Santiago, you then have to get transport down the Camino to your starting point, so you can just as easily fly to Madrid with BA. You get free food and drink and an assigned seat. Swings and roundabouts! Having said that, I've just booked for next week and I'm flying with Ryanair to Madrid, because they go from Gatwick and I can walk there from where I am, in a monastery just a few miles away. :D

Is it still the case that there is one particular card you don't have to pay to use with Ryan Air? I can't remember which it is - can anyone? There is a particular pleasure in putting as little money as possible into the pockets of Mr Ryanair O'Leary, I find.

Join our full-service guided tour of the Basque Country and let us pamper you!
Ryanair accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards and the following debit cards Maestro, Visa Connect, Visa Electron (free form of payment) & Visa Delta for payment of your flights.
As a special offer to Visa Electron card holders, Ryanair, for a limited period only, will not apply a handling fee
Within Germany ONLY, ELV direct debit payments can only be accepted up to 10 days prior to the flight departure.

real bargains

I finally got a real bargain... After waiting a while to book my return flight (from Madrid to Gatwick), mainly because I was still trying to work out the timing of my walk, I managed to get it for 20 Euros - all in - with Ryanair. Not bad. There are bargains out there: the thing to watch out for is they sometimes waive the airport taxes and other extras on some flights. Those are the flights to watch out for!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi
the nearest airports to St Jean pied de port are Bilbao, Biaritz(France) and Santander. Ryan air fly to Biaritz and santander but Bilbao is a bigger airport and flights are more reliable.
