Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Yes George , i stayed there last October and as you say no bunks ..Ahh. The food in the bar was o k for the price and i think the bed was 7 euros .
There was only 2 of us the night i stayed . I do like the fact that the 12 bed are in 2 or 3 separate room so it would be fairly quiet even when full .

Hi jony.
The food must have improved, a hearty vegetable soup with meat and egg, two thick slices of hake with a salad or chips, plus a sweet, all washed down with a bottle of red, better than ok for me

George

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
George.........I had no complaints about the food ...Chicken...Salad...Chips., and a flan for desert , but yours did sound better . I would certainly stay there again .
I am returning to the VdeLP tomorrow and continuing from Salamanca ....can't wait :D

Hi Jony,
You probably worked out I'm in Salamanca today, be aware the VdeLP seems to be very busy at the moment, might be a good idea to think about booking ahead till you get into your stride. Might be there's just a bit of a "wave"
Regards
George

Wow George just missed you ! I left Salamanca on Sunday to return home to support my recently bereaved sister. Will return next time to finish.
Much busier than 2012. We started booking a day ahead but seemed to have thinned out by Salamanca. Of course many may start there.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
It always surprises me to read about crowds on the Plata but May seems to be the favorite month to walk. I have walked from Sevilla three times (June, July and February) and the Sanabrés in July 2x and in October and I have never seen more than a handful of pilgrims at any one time. In the summer even less!

Hi LTfit,
Many of the Albergues from Merida on have been full or nearly so, lots of perigrinos, rustling bags at 5.30 am and walking at 6. Very remaincent of the French way, Galisto (spelling) was full a few days ago, and people were forced to walk on to Cacaboso.
F and M in El Cubo full by 1 pm!
Regards
George

Hi all! Once again I am heading back to Spain; this time to walk much of the Sanabres with my son; starting in Rionegro del Puente after a few sightseeing days first in Salamanca and Zamora...
I’m at Almadén de la Plata at the moment, and my options for tomorrow are to go as far as El Real de la Jara (approx 14km) or continue on to Monesterio (approx 34km). 34 km is a bit far for day 4...
Greetings from sunny Cea. Are there any hostels between Cea and A Laxe? Hostel in Castro Dozon is closed
For anyone around Sevilla, next Saturday marks the end of the annual week long fiesta. I have just had a conversation, as I do weekly (to help her with English), with a friend who is from there...
One route looks a bit steeper, one a bit longer (not much). How else are they different? Recommendations?
