Any advice for a typical fado in Porto for saturday, March 1st?

Hi, Olaf,
There is some information on this thread. http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/fado-in-lisbon-and-porto.18163/

I´ve seen the Lisbon show and it is professional and in a small setting, a small theater with several rows of chairs. That´s not the typical fado atmosphere in a bar, people sitting around tables, dark, etc. But I thought it was a very high quality musical performance.

The disadvantages of the fado bars-restaurants is that the shows start very late (bad for pilgrims) and so many of them are tourist traps. I would give this place a try in the Porto venue, info here: http://fadoinporto.com/detalhe_fip.aspx?lang=en&did=1230

I see from the ad that the Porto performance is actually across the river in Gaia, where all the port wine places are. So there may be a glass of port in your future as well! Laurie

And a visit to the port wineries is GREAT! Lots of great port tasting and very informative.
Also, don't miss the lady down by the river grilling sardinhas! YUM!
