Dear Fellow Pilgrims

I'll arrive on wed 24th August in SJPP at about 1pm by train.
Then i like to go straigth to the pilgrims office to pick up the credentials
After a short meal I start the first etappe to Alberge Borda from about 3pm (tour will take 3 hours )

My question :
Is this managable timewise ?
How long are the queues at the pilgrim office actually ?

thanks for any feedback

Hi Siegfriedshoul
Sounds a good plan to me.You should arrive at the Pilgrim Office not long after it
reopens after lunch at 13.30.
It's hard to say what size the queue will be
but midweek it may not be too bad.
It's 9 Kms from St Jean to Auberge Borda.
Take your time ,enjoy the walk, you will have plenty of time to get there.
Lucky you ,how I wish I was there now.
Bon chemin and Buen Camino

I support leaving SJPP on the same day, that's what I did 5 weeks ago. A stamp in Pilgrims Office and heading to the hills right away. Stopped to eat something only at Orisson, i think maybe climbing that steep hill with full stomach is not the best idea?

SJPdP, as beautiful as it undoubtedly is, always gives me claustrophobia (not joking). This supernarrow street with all the crowd of pilgrims and tourists crammed into it, takes my breath away (literally). Feel so much better in gorgeous Pyrenees!

First thing to do when you arrive in SJPDP. Find the bridge over the river that's in all the pictures. Stand in the center. Now you will be properly oriented and ready.

I love SJPdP and spending the afternoon there, but that is not your question.:)
As long as there are no weather issues you should be fine with your schedule. I would be sure Albergue Borda knows your arrival time, so they don't think you are not coming and give your bed away. In a pre-COVID situation, you should always notify the Albergue if you have a reservations and will be arriving late (some define this as past 2:00 or 3:00.) Not sure how this applies now.

I walked in Covid times (June/July this year) and most - if not all - places asked me to phone to confirm my reservations, even if I arrived quite early (before 2 pm).
