Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
I usually fly to Madrid from Bristol with Easy jet. There is some trains that go through Astorga from Madrid ( I think), and there is buses galore that go through Astorga from Madrid, (Alsa) I caught one to Ponferrada and it stopped of in Astorga on the way.

Easyjet, Renfe , Alsa can all be very cheap or expensive, depending how close to the Journeys you book, the season you travel and day you travel, the only way to find out for sure is go on the websites and match different days or weeks up.

Thank you, when I left last time I did this , I was hoping there might be an alternative, I found Madrid airport a nightmare! I was traveling with a Norwegian airline that was quite a distance from where bus from astorga dropped me at one part of airport, got home eventually!!

Happy research and Buen camino!

Vuelling fly from LHR to A Corunna (LCA) and you can get an Also bus from there to Astorga

When I re-started my camino from Astorga I flew to Madrid (BA from Heathrow) and took the train (with a change at Leon). You can fly Madrid from Bristol but the flight times are not so often or convenient.

And very often BA flights are cheaper than Easyjet!

I also often fly home from A Coruna on Vueling. It flies into Heathrow which is so much better than flying from Santiago back to Gatwick. As Mike C says, that might well be your best option - check the trains and buses from there to Astorga.

(I live 35 miles north of Bristol Airport, but it takes me about 1.5 hours to drive, Yet Heathrow at about 100 miles distant takes only a little longer.)
