Hello,
Other than walking, what is the best and cheapest way to get from Aumont-Aubrac to St Jean Pied du Port?

I have not been able to find any connections on the SNCF site.

I am walking from Le Puy to Aumont-Aubrac and then plan to walk Camino Frances.
I understand this is the first rail line and perhaps the easiest way to connect to SJPP.

Also would you recommend staying in the gite at Les Estrets or Bigose?

Thank you very much for your help and advice

That is a pretty small town.

I'll bet there is a bus though.

I had similar difficulty in getting a response from the SNCF and RailEurope sites. However, DeutscheBahn.com came through, and that site has an English version. (The German train site has info for trains throughout Europe.)

Since the towns are small, there is limited service and there are not many options. There are several routings, varying from 21 to 23 hours and from 3 to 5 connections.

Thank you for your replies.
Is there another town along Le Puy route that has a rail station and is more "direct"?

Seems a lovely area to explore....

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Sabine,

Thank you
Upon further investigation (and a ready willingness to be flexible) that is indeed a fabulously FINE suggestion that I depart from Cahors. Such beauty!
