Having walked many routes in Spain, England, Italy and France, we would like to turn to Eastern Europe. However, we are finding it difficult to find information on possible routes. I believe there are routes marked. Can anyone guide me to routes centred around the Prague, Budapest and Vienna triangle? Thanks

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

This link should have all European Caminos: https://nco.ign.es/caminosantiago/

Happy planning :)

http://www.ultreia.cz/ (read with help of translation app or similar) has a lot of helpful info about the Caminos in the Czech Republic. And yes, the way marking is excellent there.

Buen Camino, SY

There are two routes exiting Prague to the west: one trends north of Plsen, which I walked (see blog, link in sig block), and the other trends more southerly, which SYates walked (see her blog). There is a route running the length of Austria from Vienna through Salzburg.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hello @sjagger,

Here is a link to the Via Sancti Martini website: http://www.viasanctimartini.eu/en

I followed parts of the Via Sancti Martini on my way through Slovenia and Hungary to Eisenstadt, Austria. I found It well signed.

Cheers

I’m in Slovakia and some of the Camino falls within the Vienna/Bratislava area. The Hungarian Camino is marked out.

You could walk the Sultan's trail from Vienna through Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulfgaria, Northern Greece and Turkey. You will need a good GPS as the trail is in a GMX format. Signage is still in its infancy. You will need to bus across the Hungarian - Serbian border due to the fence. Sections of the track are overgrown and near impassable. No cheap accomodation outside major cities. On the bright side, there'll be few if any other walkers and the locals will consider you crazy. Lithuania to Prague:

Hello again

It is possible to follow camino signs all the way from Lithuania to Prague.

In 2017 I found my own way across Lithuania hiking from village to village using road maps. I saw new camino signs near Punia and Alytus and Lazdijai at the Lithuania/Polish border -since July 2017 camino trails have begun to be signed in Lithuania.

In 2015 I followed camino signs all the way from Prague via Görlitz to Olsztyn in the north of Poland. @SYates lent me a guide book for the stretch from Prague to Görlitz and a list of trail sign changes (many thanks!)...

Here are a few links:
