We have just completed the Camino Primativo and came into Santiago on the 14th September. This time we decided to move from the usual Old Town Street and found a delightful restaurant, serving a more unusual 'menu del dia', both at lunch tome and in the evening. The owners have only been operating for 4 months and both the food and the service were excellent. price 12 euros for 3 course plus a glass of wine and water. The Restaurant is called Algalia, Calle Algalia de Abaixo, 33. Well worth a visit.

My favourite restaurant in Santiago is Oliveira, on Rua de Oliveira. It's tucked into a quiet corner just off the Rua San Pedro, near the Puerta del Camino (as you're headed towards the market). You can sit under a 400-year-old olive tree and enjoy terrific food, or join an artsy crowd inside for great tapas.

When you stop at a bar for a beer, wine, coffee or bite to eat, and sit at a table, is it expected that you will return your dirty dishes up to the bar before you leave? I alway do, as it seems...
