Winter CF2018 Winter CF2019-20
As per title, is anyone aware of baggage transfer on the CF during winter? Not necessarily every day, just the odd day here and there where we feel like we need a helping hand so to speak. Mixed response from Correos - either not at all or from O Cebreiro to SdC. A number of the well-known companies close down from Oct-March or April...

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Not sure you are going to have much luck with bigger companies on the earlier sections of the camino Frances as there are such small number of pilgrims walking in winter. I walked a couple of different sections in January and at most there were 7 of us in albergues at night but often there were only 2 or 3. It may be possible in a pinch to find a local taxi who might do it.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
There is always the Correos...
t2 and Jill, sadly not. I have emailed Correos twice - one response said no, not that time of year and the other response said only from O'Cebreiro-Sarria. Jacotrans said only some stages and only on some days - I have to email them in advance with dates and locations and they will decide at a fee of 30-35 euros :eek:. Have emailed another place but they are studiously ignoring me (or not at home!!!)

Roving Rufus, sadly I think you are correct. It is just the odd stage - one that comes to mind are the horrible, freezing, strong headwinds walking across the meseta - we all struggles, particularly my older son - I ended up carrying his backpack as well as my own. Not again!

As an aside, Roving Rufus, I would LOVE to hear about your winter camino :)

Thanks for the replies

Well, the jury is in... No reliable mochila transfer services in the off-season. It appears that pilgrims will have to do it the customary way...carry one's own rucksack...

Alternatively, own could rent a donkey, and go really old-school...o_O

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Anyone got any previous experience re removals with a Camino in March?.
It's the only time I can go and, looking by the Albergues available, it's 'Shoulder Season'

Anyone got any previous experience re removals

I walked with a group last year, and one of the group members had to take a taxi each day. The others each paid him 5 euros to take their backpack with him, which covered the cost of his taxi :).

Derek, we walked the CF in March last year. Most luggage transport companies re-opened around the 15th March. This date coincided with a lot of alburgues re-opening for the season. We used a service a couple of times but about a week or two in.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

Thank you specifically for this post.
Hopefully??? I'll be half way through my walk and might be in need of a Baggage lift.
I've identified my albergues of choice for the first half but may change my choices in the second half as more and more open. Once again, thank you.

And so it came to pass. Thank you.

Love this. Camino ‘can-do’ and ‘working-together’ spirit alive and well 😊

Walking full CFs in winter 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. I always carried my pack; transport services were not common then.
