Baggage Transfer - Portugues between Valenca and Santiago

Hi,

I am organising a small group of 6 to walk this section of the Portugues in May next year. Two of the group are fairly elderly and will probably require a baggage transfer between accommodation. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of specific companies on the route that offer the service or is it just a case of organising a daily taxi between the hotels?

All/any advice gratefully received.

I never used these services but noticed their advertisements at the desks of hostals and stickers on lampposts and such.So do not know how reliable they are. Seeing them being mentioned at the website Laurie quoted I think it is a serious organisation.

Mig, hi. We used Tuitrans in May this year for a couple of elderly pilgrims unable to carry much and they were fantastic. It was all arranged by the hotel were we stayed the night we arrived in Tui. I can also highly recommend the hotel Hotel A Torre do Xudeo. Judy

Thanks JudyDaisy. We are starting in Valenca (just so they can walk across the border and the bridge designed by Eiffel). If needs be I'm sure we can get the rucksacks to Tui but hopefully they can pick up in Valenca.

Just reporting back that the TuiTrans service was excellent. Three of my group made use of the service and were charged EUR 35 per rucksack/case for the 6 days worth of transfers from Valenca Do Minho to SdC.

Payment was left with the hotel reception on the first day's pick up and TuiTrans labelled the bags, picked up between 08:00 and 08:30 each day and dropped off at the next accommodation by 14:00 each day.

Yes we even saw how they work. We were hospitaleiros at casa da Fernanda for three days and 2nd and 3rd day Tuitrans picked up backpacks from 2 peregrinas by sending a taxi who brought the packs to Ponte de Lima.
The pilgrims left both 5€ behind at Fernanda's and Fernanda paid the taxidriver.
