Baggage Transportation along the Camino Frances

The recurrence of an old neck injury has put my planned Camino (May 19-June 25) a bit in jeopardy. It may end up not being wise to walk with a backpack (and walking without a backpack should be no problem for my neck). It also might be the case that I would want to walk with a backpack on some days, but not others. Does anyone have any experience with services that transport your luggage from town to town on the Camino Frances? Can it be arranged on the fly, on a day-by-day basis, or is a more formal arrangement advisable? Any idea of costs involved? I'd really like to hear from you, especially if you have used such services yourself.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
If you are planning to stay in hotels or private albergues there won´t be no problem with the transportation of your rucksack. There are many companies providing this service for you. I actually used one of these companies from a hotel in Zubiri to a hotel in Pamplona (hotel Eslava) the cost was maybe 5€ if I remember it right. Some in the link under here.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Hi Mark,
Sorry to hear about your neck. Hope it heals quickly. I have a document on baggage transportation but my compter is in for repairs and I don't have the info on my laptop. I know that the companies overlap - some starting in France and taking stuff as far as Logrono while another starts at Val Carlos and goes as far as Ventosa.

Express Bourricot transports luggage from France to Logrono. Charges on the website.

You can also look at the brochures on the Red de Albergue website. The have a list of transport companies on the downloadable brochure.

Many pilgrims use a local taxi to cart their bags ahead for them. If you can book a bed two days ahead, you can send your backpack there and walk for 2 days with just a day pack.

If you need help booking your accommodation ahead have a look at the post on my blog at:

Good luck!
