Camino de Primitivo (2016)
Hi there everybody!

My second Camino is getting closer, so I started to have a look at the stages that I want to do and the albergues that I would like to stay.
Travelling as a vegan now, so cooking possibilities would be nice from time to time.

I`ve got to Berducedo, but now I don`t know which would be the best stages up to A Fonsagrada. I would like to stay there for one or two nights (nice memory`s from the last time)

There is not much information in my guide about this stage(s), so I turn to you...(my memory also seem`s to have been blocked out)

Any information would be nice! :)

Berducedo to Fonsagrada would be 45 km in total, and quite demanding too, there is barely a flat stretch, you start uphill, then a long descent, and after that a long climb to Salas. Sort of flat then up to Castro, then you have hills again. I have a weak spot for Castro, after Salas, I must say, it is a stunning albergue in a beautiful rural countryside and you have some amazing archaeology site too. From Castro you should be able to make it to Fonsagrada in a reasonable stage.

Thank you for helping Amancio :) 45 km in two days is possible, so Castro it will be. Do you happen to have the name of that albergue?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Last year we did Berducedo to Grandes de Salime and stayed at LaBarra Hotel. That made the Grandes to A Fonsagrada stage a 29km day. For my next Primitivo, I plan to continue past Grandes to San Julian, just short of Castro, and stay at Apartamentos Rurales Casa San Julian.

Castro is a youth hostel, best to phone and check it is available. The contact details should be on Gronze.
We too have stayed at La Barra. Both there and Castro are good. Meal is cooked by the owners at Castro.

Castro has had some alterations to include the provision of a microwave. Meals can be bought but you might want to carry your own. Details and contact information on Gronze, etapa 7.

Tanja, the albergue at Castro has pre-cooked food that is heated up at dinner time, including vegan options. I was there a week ago and these options included soups, a couscous dish, and rice + vegetables. ¡Buen Camino y buen provecho!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

There is also an excellent vegan pilgrim menu offered at Casa Herminia in Campiello, and the communal dinner at the wonderful albergue in Bodenaya is usually (always?) vegetarian and can easily be veganised.

The albergue in Bodenaya was already on my list, so this is where I definitely will be staying. Didn't know about the vegan menu at Casa Herminia, so thank you again! :)

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
