Best method of Transportation from Madrid Barajas airport to Sarria?

red dog

New Member
Flying, in early October, to Madrid Barajas airport, will arrive about 10:00am, need to get to Sarria to begin my Camino and looking for the easiest method of travel? Can anyone recommend the easiest, quickest method of transportation from the Madrid Barajas airport to the Madrid Chamartin train station? Approximately how much time will it take to get from the gate at the airport, through customs and on to the Chamartin station?
I am aware of the Trenhotel leaving for Sarria at 10:30pm and 12:30am but am looking for something leaving earlier in the day. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

There is an Alvia train leaving 1230 hours. The Trenhotel leaves at 2230. There is not another Trenhotel at 0030.

These are the only trains leaving from Madrid that make a stop in Sarria.

If this doesn't work for you ... take a train to Monforte de Lemos. Monbus goes from Monforte de Lemos to Sarria.

Another alternative is to take the train (very frequent service) to Ourense. Monbus goes from Ourense to Lugo and then Lugo to Sarria.

2007 Madrid Airport to train station Chamartin

a. Chamartin is reached by Metro. Take line 8 from airport T1-T2-T3 or T4 to Nuevos Ministerios; and, line 10 to Chamartin.

b. Chamartin is reached by Renfe Cercanius direct from Madrid Airport T4.

There is a bus from the Madrid airport to Lugo at 1345 that arrives at 2000 or 2010. You can then catch the 2045 bus from Lugo to Sarria.
