Best way to get from Madrid Airport to Burgos

I will arrive at Madrid Airport at 1.45pm on April 9 2012 and want to get to Burgos that afternoon.
What is the best way?

The new train station in Burgos is on the far north side of the city, but gives a good starting point on the camino if you do not want to see Burgos (just keep walking to Tardajos). The bus station is just across the river from the cathedral.
